Default Locks, chains, etc

At long last I think I've sorted out my first big bike.

An 05 650S with full fairings, flame can, hugger, crash bungs, alarm, etc.

Would like to know what the best padlock and chain is (and disc lock if you nice people think one is necessary). I know Ride recommends the Oxford XL but what chain length should I go for?

Bike will be left overnight on my drive and will back my car up to it so no thieving bugger can nick it and will use it for work so a chain and lock (or disc lock) that's easily portable and doesn't weigh half a ton would be useful.

As I'm new to this, all help gratefully received and any advice to do with the SV would be appreciated.

Almax chain. I have their chunkiest one. chain your bike to a ground anchor...and be clever about it. Through a wheel is a bit silly, because wheels can be taken off. yes, even the bak ones

downpipes, however, are a much harder item to remove, and alot of noise will be made if Mr Theif-Scum-Bag wants to cut it free.

Almax chains are a bit pricey, but its cheaper than forking out for a new bike.

For carrying about, I have a lighter (and less secure) chain, and a Xena disc lock, which has an alarm built in.

Matt

Yup, Almax all the way anchored to a pragmasis ground anchor through the frame using an Anti-Pinch Pin.

Got an almax also, hefty bit of kit. Expensive closed shackle lock. Ground anchor too, wouldn't the downpipes be a bit hot when you park the bike up!? You can't really carry an almax around either, mine weighs 11kg

Definitely, chains are easy to break anyway unless they're the calibre of almax. Look it up on YouTube

As long as your carefull, you dont have to touch the downpipe. Also, i notice it cools down quite quickly. 5 mins and its cool enough to not be injury-inducing if you brush against it
