Default New License

Sorry if this has been posted before, I've done a search and can't find anything.

Has anyone had a problem with their license when they've had to send it off to be renewed? My photocard runs out this July and I'm concerned about sending it back. I'd heard of classifications dropping off from a friend a while ago, but was glad to see Watchdog highlight it last week and this.
I'm photocopying it before I send it back in the hope that they'll accept this if there is a problem.

Watchdog highlighted the DVLA as the devil this week. I couldn't believe it. The piece started by saying a man who'd been riding 30 yrs was told they had no record of his license, and made him retest.
Nahh, you shouldn't have a problem!

Lou M, make sure you copy it and when you get it check it and double check it.. I have heard about problems but it is from people who have left it ages before realising and then it has been up to them to prove they had the clasification int the first place.

I have not had any experience personally but that's what I will be doing when I send mine off x

I think that you should be ok as long as you have a good photocopy showing all your entitlements. Both my instructor and the examiner advised me to copy my old paper licence before sending it to the DVLA to get the bike entitlement added.

Riding school told me of a guy who went to a local garage for a new bike, they wouldn't sell without a licence, and this guy, who'd been riding for stupid amount of years, found out he actually hadn't had a licence for about 5

Uhm i guess they can't do this all the time though O.O

Can I recommend that you get the copy signed by someone of the right level. Ie preist, director, lawyer etc. That's we've done.

Just get a copy of your paper and car licence and keep it while renewing.

I have a copy scanned (paper and card) and saved... same with my passport, birth certificate, education certificates etc.

I copy everything ,anything that is important really and could be a pain to replace.

There was a case where the DVLA dropped the bike entitlement of a police motorcyclist. They even made him retake his test (on his Police Pan), despite protests from senior officers.
