Hey guys! I have looked around the forum but can't find any solutions so hoping you can help!
Have a 2003 faired SV, 41k but in good nick. Turn the key, lights come on, she's in neutral, killswitch off and stand is up... Red light below the Green "N" is on (but can't remember whether that's an error light or should disappear when engine turns over) press the ignition and.. Nothing. Not even a click. Its like the engine start has been disconnected. Took her for a 6hr blast two days ago, left her standing over night and in the morning moved her 15ft (ish) without turning the engine on to clean her over a drain. Oil is good, water is good aswell as fuel. Checked the fuses underneath the seat, ignition 10a seems fine, even tried the spare in her.. Any ideas anyone? Not great at maintenance, but have the time to look over her thoroughly before its to the garage! it could be the safety switch on your clutch m8.
I have been having the same problem. Just push the wires onto the switch, if that dont sort it unplug them and clean up the connections thenconnect it back up. |

You say you have a 2003 bike - do you mean that you've got a fuel injected 'Pointy' version?
If yes, when you turn the ignition on do you hear the fuel pump prime? (the 3-4 second high pitched whirring noise).

Sorry yeh, its a pointy fuel injection.
Fuel pump primes yep Sid. Safety switch on clutch? is that to do with the clutch having to be in when you start the engine.. if so which wires do you mean? |

Looks round the back of the clutch, and under it.
Theres a connection which should be it. Could have got wet from the cleaning or could just not be pushed in properly. |

try charging the battery. 99% of starting probs is a flat battery. and have you checked the starter motor fuse. i asume it has 1. most my old bikes where like 30amp or sumthing like that.

Will go out and try the clutch safety wire thing now..
I would be very surprised if it was the battery as lights, horn, etc working fine and hasn't been left on for any period of time. Plus last time i took her out was a real good blast that should have charged her nicely! |

HAHA! Lovely... what a promising sound that is!
It was indeed the clutch safety thingy.. had come completely off! Thank you so much guys, you've saved me a fairly embarassing trip to the garage tommorrow! |
