Default GM II. Strathfillan, The Lowdown!

Having now stayed at Strathfillan I thought others might be interested to hear first-hand about the site.

Firstly, the facilities.

There are only two showers and 5 toilets. The showers are £1 for 8 minutes, but they are clean, and have a decent area of shelving to put your stuff to keep it dry. I personally preferred paying for those than using the free but filthy ones at Applecross.

The kitchen area isn't very large, but there is a cooker, a fridge, a couple of toasters, electric kettles and plenty of cooking and eating equipment. There are also a washing machine and a tumble dryer, each costing 20p for ten minutes.

There is also a computer for internet access, £1 for 30 minutes.

The shop doesn't open very early..............9am...............but can provide bacon rolls etc and tea and coffee. It has a limited amount of foodstuffs for sale. You can also buy wood and peat for your wigwam fires.

The small wigwams ARE small. They are a squeeze for 4 people and all their luggage. Would be more comfortable for 3 people, and very nice for two people. They have a heater, and an electric socket. You can park your bikes right outside the door, and each one has it's own picnic table and fire bin.

The bad news is, the taxi service will no longer be available. Monday was the guys last day.

Some pictures of the area and the small 4 person wigwam that we stayed in.

As you can see, after the beds are sorted and stuff thrown in you have to be quite good friends.

Edit: Some more pictures in this thread.

they are the same size as the small ones last year, so I expected a squeeze with gear....so i booked a large one. Luckily me and carnivore know each other very well, and Steve is a good friend.....Regency was at the backpackers on the Hardy Bikers and I think I can trust his snoring
I'm thinking the large ones will be of similar stuff to the one that Lissa and co had last year, that was a little bit less intimate

Tiz ok Maria, I have double quantity of Skin so Soft, and am intending on getting a supply of giant citronella candles

Just can't stop it tipping it down, as a sundance will no doubt make it rain more

The Skin So Soft worked at the weekend. I only got bitten where I hadn't used it!

lol, no ill invest never fear

For those who have no idea what we're on about, skin so soft is THE anti-midge stuff to use, its moisturiser, not designed for the midges but they don't like it, we have it on good authority from the locals

Just a couple :
Our wigwam was called " Whispering Wind " I wonder why ?
Try not to ride through ashes by the fire. I think peeps use pallet wood & there were lots of nails in ours.
