Default Immobilliser Cut in at 50mph! Problems?

On Tuesday evening on the A2 on the way home happily commuting home, my immobiliser cut in whilst I was filtering between two cars, luckily I managed to grab the clutch and coast semi-safely to a halt.

Tried again and same thing, without the filtering this time.

Anyway, after 30 seconds from starting, the alarm/immobiliser seems to cut in, htus killing the electricals.

It works fine once you put the alarm in valet mode and it is going back to the supplier for rectification.

My question is this:

Would cutting out at this speed and not immediately grabbing the clutch have caused any damage to the bike, the chain or anything else you can think of?

I wouldn't have thought anything significant mate - same (well similar - I know you mentioned the speed) as stalling it, isn't it...

I thought that it would be fine, but my reason for asking is that if there is a genuine chance of it causing damage I want to mention it now. Tks Muffles, want to get it sorted before 2nd July at Brands too!

I'm trying but I can't think of anything that would cause a problem - the engine might have been running a bit faster than it would if it stalled, but it's not dissimilar to when an SV's front plug cuts out in the wet, so I think it's OK.

2nd July? Tell me more??

There shouldn't be a problem cutting the engine, it's just like hitting the kill switch..

Just get the wiring checked etc.

Only thing i can think of is if the engine lobbed a load of unburnt fuel into the exhaust, it might damage the cat (if you have one)

I figured the fuel pump would have stopped too, but I guess whatever's in the system would have gone through. Having said that, does it cause a problem if it doesn't ignite? (I could see a burning cat being a problem )

As for the immobilliser, yes it would be exactly the same as hitting the kill switch I reckon - so no issues then.

The alarm is faulty and will be replaced, just not sure when I will get the chance, it runs fine in valet mode and it is easy to get into/out of. So there are no issues with the alarm being affected, just need to remember to turn it off again.

sounds like a faulty connection sensing if the bike is turned on/off
