Default Puncture Repair kits

Going to be doing plenty of riding around Europe this year and dont fancy being stranded from a puncture. I will put the sealing gunk in (cant remember the name) but this doesnt do large holes/slits.

Has anyone got any favourites,
- Expanding foam
- Glued string
- patches?
etc...

Ultraseal is the tyre sealing liquid to put in your tyre, some tyre fitters will do it for you.

As for plugs, well your going to get some very different views about this, some people say using the tyre plugs will ruin your tyre and once used it should be scrapped.
I've got a plug in my tyre and I know people who have used them for the total life of the tyre. My reason is this, the plug is ramed into the tyre tight so it won't come out with it look like a mushtroom, and also covered in glue. The tyre is under pressure so the plug can go back in, and is stopped coming out by its mushroom shape and glue.

But its your choice, there are some kits out there that even claim to work for the life of the tyre.... most don't.

For emergencies I've got a "Rep and Air" kit from hein Gericke that I carry under my seat cowl.

I've used the holts tyre seal with varying degree of sucess to.

I prefer the rep and air I like the idea of having a plug in the tyre. MattSV used one last year to get home from the North / South after he picked up a puncture, worked really well.

Slime / Ultraseal will stop some small leaks but to be honest I'm not a fan. I figure if you get a decent lump of shrapnel just plug it where it's damaged.

I use the Rep & Air kit: http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/produc...ode=MTX5060351

Though I bought it from Hein gericke for about £12.

I also carry some of the "string" type plugs. Both these plugs are a good temporary patch pushed in from the outside. The tyre should be repaired professionally with a proper plug put in from the inside of the tyre as soon as possible.

Sticky string.

Works better and is easier to use than the Rep & Air plugs.

Ultraseal, thats what I was thinking of.

Will have a look at the rep and air, sounds like it works ok.

I've got a kit that looks like the rep and ait kit. As I've never fixed a puncture before, just before a tyre is due replacement I'll puncture it intentionally to practice on (don't worry, I can carry my wheels to my fitter- only 500m away). Any advice on using one (I'll use a pump to reinflate, rather than use up one of the compressed air canisters).
