Default Brake disc bluing?

I have my bike serviced recently and fitted some new pads as didnt have much on the old ones - as you do. I treated them nicely for first hundred miles or so. Done a further 200 using them normally.

Anyway, I decided to give them a real test last night to get an idea of performance for an upcoming track day - from 110mph - 15mph very hard braking. I was really disappointed, not nearly as strong as they used to be.

Had a look at the discs when i got home and saw a blue streak around the disc - is this normal? Am I overreacting? Have the new pads shagged my discs?

You need to carry out a proper bedding procedure if you want the best from your brakes. What you've done is a bit fierce but probably not caused any issues, but I suspect you just need to continue with a bedding sequence to get full bedding of th epads.

There are plenty of guides, like here , or here , they refer to cars but the principle is the same. EBC give a guide for bike brakes intended for track use.

Getting a little colour on the discs is not necessarily a problem, providing the brakes aren't actually dragging and heating the discs all the time.

Maybe the pad material isn't such a good match for the disc, a bit too hard perhaps? The pad will last for ages but it'll screw your discs in the process.
