The title sums up how im feeling at the moment with life in general, with no more college i now have alot of free time and having chosen not to go on to further education this year i find myself sitting at home all day just watching the day fly by.

I do have a part time job which is about 20 hours a week and i struggle to cope with standing behind a till for hours on end accomplishing nothing and i seriously don't know how many of you with desk jobs etc cope day in day out working the 9-5 and with the way the UK is at the moment getting another more fun and fufilling job isn't as easy as it used to be, aswell as the fact that i am only 18 and kinda feel this is what i have to look forward to for the next how ever many years...

i don't really no what to expect in terms of fellow org members replys but thanks for reading anyway, Ben

Sure the employment industry doesn´t look great right now, but it wont be like this for ever.

I understand being caught up in a job that you don´t much like, but it is only part time and not full time right now for you. I´m sure there are a lot of .orgers out there right now who havent even got that

Plan something good, or even just plan for the AR, it will give you something to focus on rather then work.

Just remember, "Every day is a nice day, it's just that some are nicer than others."

It's the mantra i try and run with. Could give you a load of Zen Buddhist c##p but you don't need that heavy stuff.

Best remedy, if the bike isn't ready, go for a beer with a couple of mates.

OR go for a nice walk. you'd be amazed how a walk can make you feel positve again about things. Even if you have no real destination, make one up and take a slow walk. Look at the tress, leaves grass solar powered lovelies and everything in a slow "hmmm, i never noticed that before" kind of way.

i've been out of work for 3 months or so now and i know the boredom all too well. Whydo you think you see so many posts from me , lol.

Well, you may not want to do this......but have you thought about volunteering? I'm in recruitment, higher end, but whenever executive level candidates have been out of work, they have done something to keep themselves and their minds busy, either by doing courses to boost their skills or by old fasjioned volunteering.

You can find all sorts to do with volunteering, indoors, outdoors, whatever you fancy. Stick up a sign in your local shop to be an odd jobber and earn a few squids at the same time.

You'll be amazed at how much better you feel about things if you've kept yourself busy and also, when it comes to job interviews, you can show that you are proactive and won't just sit and do nothing just because you can!

I see you're in Basingstoke, could you meet up with the Guildford Massive or Thames Valley.

Try an outdoor hobby instead of sitting at home.

100% spot on, that is the way foward right now. I did save an article from a newspaper about that, with some links. I'll see if I can find it for you.

Basically the article was talking about how lots of people who have lost their jobs were using volunteer work to gain new experinces and see what they liked doing.

Have you heard of something called CSV?

http://www.csv.org.uk/ have a look I have never done it myself but others have. Though I have quite a bit of free work espically in film/tv which does lead on to other things. At least by doing this you find what you like and don't like.

Also if you go to a job interview and you get asked, so what have you been doing? You say nothing...don't look good. When I went for interviews I could say e.g I have been working on short films, doing all the horriable jobs, learning how a film set works ect becasue I really, really want this job. You know what? I was hired.

I'm a bit older than you, got my degree now ect. Like most people I kinda just ended up where I am. All I can say do something that one that you enjoy, that plays to what your good at. It was worth going to work last night just see all fits girls walking about

Myself casue I have moved onto a new shift pattern and I stay where I am for a while, it will allow me to do other things besides work so I may look at what else I can do. No experince is bad experince.

I went through a long period trying to work out what I wanted to do ect. As I have said before it all depends on what kind of life you want to have.

Whatever you do just don't sit at home and feel sorry for yourself, that ain't gonna help is it?

Agree with the idea of trying new things. Its easy to get into a rutt.

Volunteering sounds like a good idea. You just need to get out there and try anything. If you don't like it try something else and so forth
