Default I was wikkid and fixed me bike

I am still fairly new to this motorcycling malarky and have only been riding a little bike since January (thanks to a lot of support from some of you folks here and a lot of training from Carol) and yesterday I decided to go for a ride on my own to find places I like.

So with my L Plates polished and the bike looking dirty from off roading last month (on road tyres on a CG125, what it lacked in grip it made up for with silliness. Deep mud is great fun!) I headed off into the hills, following the breeze. It was lovely, got a few miles under my wheels and then found my way home again.

Back home, things were not so cool. While out and about I had broken a spoke in the back wheel and poor Henry the Honda was feeling poorly. Worried about a snapped spoke I checked the wheel for damage and found none. No signs of an impact, just one snapped spoke, which had broken on its elbow.

Now being a resourceful girl, I thought about what I could do and wondered how much a new spoke would cost. Internet checking made things look bleak.

So this morning I arose and decided to take Henry to bits. He has some rust that needs sorting and a few very dirty bits that needed cleaning. So armed with my Push Bike repair kit I took Henry to bits in the Garage. Then Popped over to Bob Wrights and bought a new spoke for a pound, popped back to the garage and put Henry back together again. Only cleaner, rust treated and with a back wheel that is safe again.

Usually I have friends who give me a hand, but today I was all alone (except for Cradle of Filth, Marduk, Enslaved, Cannibal Corpse, Emperor, Slayer and Neurosis blasting out my ear drums!) and when I had finished I checked him over and he started first kick, despite having had to take off the tank, exhaust and carb to give me access to rusty bits of frame. I also had to remove my battery box for sorting because this was a box of rust too. Oh well, poor Henry is twenty years old, but still going well.

Now I am all covered in oil and gunge that wont wash off despite scrubbing with Fast Orange and a nail brush, so once I have finished this here scribing, I am off to decontaminate myself in the shower. Now where is the Cillit Bang!

Good for you Jaynie, I wouldnt touch anything mechanical with a barge pole, but then I don't have to as I have the very talented Mr VT to do that for me and I know Im not going to leave something important off either.
Probably for someone who finds Space Lego a challenge should never deal with engines.
I will stick to flesh and blood management any day, nursing and operating on animals is a walk in the park compared to machinery!
