Default Just how much vibration should there be?

Im not sure if my `01 sv 650s curvy vibrates from the engine that bit too much? At 5k rpm its fairly noticeable and does make my right hand quite tingly after a 20 mile ride.

Its not horrendous, but is noticeable, I was wondering what others here think of their bikes, and is there any north essex/ south suffolk sv owners who fancy a ride out, as Id like to compare mine to another just to see if its normal?

now mine is the other way round, a small amount on tickover, and rises with the revs, but no worse at 5k than 9k. can be felt through footpegs etc as well.

It depends which SV I'm on and what I'm doing with it.
Standard geared one it vibrates like hell, even with new suspension and heavy barends, bells and whistles, I get tingly fingers and toes(cause I took the rubber off the pegs), this happens terribly on a motorway, not so much on other roads.
One tooth up on front sprocket SV, is like a dream in comparison, heavy barends, crap oil in forks, no rubber on pegs...no vibrations can ride it on a motorway allllllll day

i have a k2 svs and i was thinking must be my bike with this problem vibrations, but the more i read through old threads more i notice its either you got the vibe or you havent ...is it because ,wel i think my bike was built on a friday after noon and the poor little man wanted to finish early to gome to his little wife for tea !!!!!!

dave (bahp) took my bike for a ride the other week i thought it was the bike,as i was getting bad pins and needls in my hands and wrist ,but he recons the bike was fine it just the way v twins are ,but its all to do with the riding position and the way you set up your levers ,mine was set up so all my weight was on my wrist,in other words the brake and clutch lever was wey too high ,so i moved them forward and it made a hell of a difference but still getting pins and needles but thats down to me i think im riding a bit to tens i should relax a bit i think!!!!!!

this is interesting then, so maybe mines no worse than any others, trouble is my daily commute is 35 miles round trip of fast A road, half of which is dualled, so like dizzyblonde says seems to make the vibrations worse.

If the extra tooth sprocket is likey to help, may go that route when the chain and sprockets are up for renewal.

Its a possibility, but on a down point the extra tooth on the front, makes twisties hard work(to me at least). Higher gearing is great on a motorway, for example I can do 90mph at 6000revs on black SV, but 90 on the yellow is about 6.5-7k.
On the black SV I have to use the gearbox a lot more on twisty bits of road, standard gearing on the yellow SV is fun in this case.

This is on a faired BTW. So thats a 16T front on my black SV

if you are getting pins and needles in your hand it can be an over inflated front tyre - the super hot temperatures could be at play here!
