Thumbs up Just Popped my Pillion Cherry

Okay - not exactly front page news - but quite important to me! Had a few reservations about going for a ride with a pillion (Especially the Missus!). Took some advice off my step father who is a very experienced when it comes to riding 2 up. The Other half came back in a poor mood due to work messing her around, so to take her mind off everything I suggested we go for a pootle out on the CBR. She was a little hesitant and when she got the helmet/ jacket and boots on she was very nervous - cue neighbours getting a free show of her trying to get her leg over the seat on the drive

Anyway - 2 clicks up on the rear pre load - check tyre pressures adjust mirrors and main beam -away we go. A bit shakey at first - even after my pep talk about what she needed to do and when.... She soon settled into it and we enjoyed a ride out to windy Southport - Fish & Chips at the Carousel and then a blast back down the A59

I didnt expect the bike to feel as different as it did and also the way I smoothed out the throttle and braking made a big difference to the way I approached obstacles and traffic. All in all I kept the ride very conservative and safe - (We have a baby who we want to see again!).

Here's hoping that she wants to go again - albeit with a better Lid, textile jacket for comfort versus leather and some way to secure her wavy locks which appeared in my mirrors!

Just thought I would share that with you all, Matt

Being a pillion sucks. Taking a pillion sucks. Ghastly.

If i'm honest, i dont like riding 2 up that much but i like the fact the mrs can share the experience so its a compromise i guess.

Ahh, but taking a pillion that sucks , that night just be worth it.

Sounds like you did the right thing S1, and hopefully there will be a next time sooner rather than later.

You are a lucky man, DSGMATT. Mrs Professor and Miss Professor have
never sat on my bike.

God sake Matt, you have created a rod for your own back.

Now take off rear seat, fit cowl and remove rear foot pegs. NOW

- Maybe! I don't think that she is that 'into' the bike or the biking scene though. I only realised after posting the thread - that one of the reasons I got a bike was to get out of the house and have some freedom
