If you buy a cheap car or bike.. you pretty much expect it to break well before any higher priced bike or car would right?
if you buy a cheap toaster or similar product, you expect it not to last as long as a more expensive one, but that's okay.. because its cheap right? if you went for a bike service and some guy did it for you on the cheap back door jobby... you might expect it hasn't been done to par with as much detail as a full priced service... so when it comes to your insurance why do people complain about **** service when everyone goes for the cheapest possible price? IF there was a company that offered you more expensive insurance.. say £100 on top of your premium but Promised by contract to do everything that's outlined with no ****ing around and side tracking in the most efficient and less inconvenient and customer focused way possible would you take it? discuss.. |

I think the difference with insurance is that you HAVE to buy it. You have no choice.

However not happy with them and due to them taking my NCB over the cyclist thing, will be going elsewhere because I cant afford that kind of generosity again.

it depends how cash flow is, Ill pay over the odds to use certain companies because they provide a very good service.

there just seems to be a MASSIVE obsession with cheap insurance.. just sounds like the cheaper ones are more skanky than the rest

That's my point. If I want to pay for something, I'll try to get value for money and that may mean paying a little more. If I HAVE to pay for something, I'll try and spend as little as possible.
Also, I hope I'll never have to find out what the customer service is like. Insurance is, after all, a gamble you hope you will never win. |

Cheap doesn't necessarily mean crap nowadays. My Vauxhall has been a much better car with infinitely better customer service than my BMW which was over twice the price. I've bought some 'reputable' brand goods, such as a Hoover washing machines and a Bosch fridge only to have them break down constantly. Anybody bought expensive clothing only to have the colour wash out in 10 washes, while the own brand high street stuff seems to last forever. Electrical goods I buy the cheapest now and if it lasts a long time that's a bonus, usually they last long enough to feel it's done it's service.
I think service from an insurance company is a bit random form one year to the next, I had an accident whilst insured with Swiftcover, really cheap, but the customer service was excellent, the car repair was awful, but I think that was as much the bodyshop as anything else, I know they get paid peanuts for the repair but that's the same as any insurance company. They did try to sting me big time for moving to a higher risk postcode, but at that point I left them and went elsewhere. When going elsewhere I didn't choose the cheapest, but that's because I didn't want to pay extra to drive abroad, I wanted have some legal cover included, etc, etc, but if that best quote had been with Esure or Direct Line it wouldn't have made any difference, they are all as bad as each other and you could have a bad experience with any one of them.
