Bit of a derail, but on the K4 onwards, the tool kit can be accessed without taking the seat off. Looking at the left side of the bike just by the rear shock, you'll see the tool box. There's a long push pin rivet sticking out - pull it and slide the cover down, voila! Newsflash, my toolkit was there, fully intact.
