Default S&WS Camping Weekend & Rideout (PART DEUX)

The return to North Devon... After a wet but successful weekend, we've decided to do it again.

SO for those that couldn't make it the first time and for those that want to see Hovis loose the power of speech - again here are the details:

Plan
Same as last time.
Camping, Devon & Somerset GP rideout (Sat), Rideout 2 (Sun, tba)... route plan volunteer(s) for the Sunday rideout welcome. Local knowledge for this one would be good.

Precise rideout details to follow.

When
August Bank Holiday weekend - Friday 28/8 - Monday 31/8.

Camping
Poll has closed. The winning location is PORLOCK, N.Devon

Porlock Caravan Park - Exmoor, N.Devon (01643 862269)

Prices work out to around £11/ngt which inc's a bike (or cage), 2 man tent and 2 people. A £20 deposit is required when booking and if you mention that you'll be on the bike they'll put us all together in the rally field.

Who
Please add yourself to THIS list if you are planning to join in (Camping & rideout or rideout only).

Some social PHOTOS from Part One and some ROUTE photo's.... to tempt you.

ALL WELCOME

Hopefully see you there.

Not too sure Hovis - Fizz will probably be able to answer more accurately, but Porlock Village is walking distance from the site, so probably not far - or no further than Chivenor.

It wont be far. Definately walking distance.

Theres 3 pubs in the village of Porlock according to google, so we'll have some choice, its not the sort of place you go nightclubbing in though. If your after a more lively nightout it would be a trip back down the coast to Minehead I suspect. Never been out there though.

The Ship Inn, looks to be the closest to the campsite

A few minutes walk at the most I would think looking at the campsite map and the pubs website...

then i realy dont mind,

if it does not rain we may not need to go to the pub, but it would be nice to have the option, especialy if we are going for an exrta day. TBH i was not keen on the pub at chivener, although the site was fine.

To be fair I reckon it would have been OK for a couple of hours or if we were just getting something to eat in there. Its just not the sort of place you spend all day in...

porlock works out at £24 for the 3 nights (£45 for the fizz&liz mansion) (£32 for a couple sharing small tent)

where as chivenor will probably be £10-£15

i have voted for porlocks, but if people think its a bit expensive, i dont mind. (5-0 i think its worth phoning to see if its free)

Vote Vote...

The camping location needs to be determined pretty quickly, so that we can get booking.

I voted Porlock, as I thnk we'll have more options there and I think Chievnor might get a litlte boring if we are there for 3 nights...

If the weather is OK I might pop over to Porlock at the weekend and refresh my memories of it and have a wander around.
