Default Oil Burner Update

Well my sprint st 1050 has been back at the dealers for nearly three weeks now, have been back today to find out what is going on, they previously told me the reason for it using oil was because the valve stem seals had gone, the bike has done less than 16000 miles . anyhow i arrived at dealers today the lad who was working on my bike was there and showed me the head of the engine block and i took a few pics,

the parts are being picked up first thing tues, and i should have it back wed thursday, the only good thing/s are that 1, i bought from a dealer, cos i hate to think how mutch this would have cost, and 2, it will have had a full service with the valves checked clearences etc, as i am not confident this was done when it should have been.
can't bloody wait to get it back, a bandit 650 is no substitute for 3 cylinders lol

Faulty batch of seals?, or they have changed the spec?, anyhow triumph say tis not a problem and burning oil up to 1ltr per 1000miles is acceptable. methinks they don't want to do a recall cos would know doupt cost a pretty penny, Appleyards said to me they would not take any more 1050 bikes in part ex, as this would have cost them a few bob, haha, that's why you buy from a dealer though, piece of mind hopefully.

was on just short of 14000 when i picked it up, and i was suspiciouse when i got home 15miles of a dark layer on the top of the rear unit, but didn't think that mutch at the time, another 80 miles, check oil none on dipstick, feck, day out on it return check no oil, had to go up to lakes for weekend did a couple of hundred miles, took oil with me to top up as reqd, on return phoned them up to book it back in.
spcialone, half the problem is that the dipstick is too short, it only takes 200ml from just toutching the bottom of ds to being full, and if you get the oil light coming on it's allready too late, i didn't thank god, just the first time i checked it i did not expect there to be no oil, i have never had to topup oil in any of the bikes i have had befor, still should be sorted now, bring on the sunshine.

That's what my mates BMW R1150 manual says. There's even a reminder note on the key "check oil before riding" or something similar.

Wonder if triumph even bother trying to seal engine internal? Seems like they all burn a lot of oil.

I think that is a myth - some of their engines burn some oil. From what I've heard, many don't burn any.
