Well I've posted this to Peipoo but figured it may be of interest to others in case it happens to them so I'll keep the progress updated.
I was parked on private property in London and got a parking ticket for being parked on the "Public footpath". Appealed, didn't hear back from them, got a letter today saying the fine had been doubled to £120 and I've got 28 days before they increase it again despite them never having gotten back to me about the appeal so it should all be on hold. Will be taking this to the next step once i get some professional advice. ![]() ![]() ![]() http://i31.tinypic.com/mn2ik9.jpg http://i26.tinypic.com/vfb12u.jpg ![]() |

I'm in a similar situation... parked straddling a curb in Enfield whilst visiting friends. Asked them if car was ok to be left like that and all seemed good - never had a problem before. Recieved a PCN at about 6am Sunday morning. I appealed (with photographs) as my friends car was parked with their rear wheels on the pavement, car protruding from their driveway. They were blocking the pavement completely whilst I was parked in such a way that people could easily use the footpath. Also seemed somewhat discriminatory that I recieved a PCN and they did not.
Recieved a letter of rejection and now have 14 days to pay £50. I could understand if this were in the city, but in a cul-de-sac in the suburb's.... just f'ing stupid. |

I have had a ticket from Asda and 1 from homebase and just ignored them. They sent a few letters threating court action but because its a private matter they have little to no chance of winning and never heard anything again. I would just keep binning the letters until they stop coming, or deny the ticket and challenge them to take you to court.

Could do but it's the council so they are more likely to take it to court or throw it to a collection agency if I just ignore it so I prefer to come out fighting but I'm suer as hell not paying it!
Glad you didn't get any issues from yours though! Mac Donalds are starting to do this (you can only stay in the car park for something stupid like 20 minutes! nice customer service huh). Seems like the tickets they issue are completly un-enforcable and I have to say if they ever gave me one I'd never use them again! Last edited by PsychoCannon; 07-09-09 at 11:03 AM. |

Brother had a similar issue from parking on private property outside his work garage (Westminster) while he went to get the key.
Must have gone backwards and forwards 6 times. He finally forwarded copies to the mayors office which was when it went away. Last edited by Sosha; 07-09-09 at 11:49 AM. |

OK they called me back to apologies for the letter as they "forgot" to reply to my appeal.
They still intend to enforce the fine but it's dropped back to £60 and they say they have a photo of me parked in the public highway as I was about a yard from the wall.... Now the problem is I know for a fact I my front wheel was right up against the wall! If the photo does indeed show my bike "a yard away from the wall" which is: a) Not how I parked it, I'd NEVER park that sloppily, EVER! especially not when that would leave my bike jutting out into the road when I've got tonnes of free space! b) not how I returned to the vehicle. Of course I took photos of the area and the plate on the floor but moved my bike to take a clear pic of the area and not of the bike in Situ. |

So see what their pictures say. Maybe go back now and get pictures of it within the private land?
