Which Aprilia Falco or Honda Superblackbird?

Been looking at a different bike.
Have seen nice Falco & v. nice Bird, which one for all-round usage.
Falco is still a twin like the SV which I have enjoyed riding, bird looks to be a great bike for touring distance.
I am only using the bike for enjoyment, don't need it to be to practical for everyday use, have a car for that, so bike is only for weekends away & blasts with the org.
Which should I give the priority too????

i'd go for the bird have a go on both.

look at a kwak zzr1400 - i've been taking a closer look at these each time i'm in the bike shop - as for the above - i'd go for the blackbird..

Hondas are renowned for a robust finish and they just don't go wrong, the blackbird has always been an awesome bike in terms of power, handling and reliability.

I do like aprilia but am unsure of the general finish and i have heard lots of stories about parts taking ages to arrive and if you don't live by an aprilia dealer then....well ! if you are serious about the aprilia may be worth speaking to the gr33k, i believe he has thoughts on the falco.

Aprilias are good bikes but spares are few and far between, not cheap and usually require a wait which is why so far the votes been for the indestructible and practical honda i guess

I have just got rid of my Honda Blackbird (2000 injected model) after only 4 months of ownership. I did 3,500 miles on it including a trip to the TT and the AR09 and for me personally it depends what you want from a bike - all my day-to-day riding are B-roads and the 'Bird is just too heavy to enjoy these properly. Dont get me wrong it can still do them but its a heavy bike to be swinging from one side to the other on a twisty road and I found it to be ultimately not thrilling in that area. It came with BT-021 tyres and I changed these (before they were worn out!) for an Avon Viper Sport front and an Avon Storm rear and also raised the rear by fitting a 6mm spacer above the shock - these helped a little but there is no hiding the fact that its a huge bike. Swapped it for an SV1000 and couldnt be more happy. I still have 1000cc of grunt but not the "go-straight-to-jail-do-not-pass-go" performance of the 'Bird which I think is too much for the road if you like to "work" a bike on smaller roads. Its all about what you want from a bike - if you ride A-roads more than B-roads then give the 'Bird a go as its just awesome at distance work. Personally from what you are saying I think the Falco would suit you more but don't discount the SV1000 as its truly one of the best all-rounders IMO

These are very different bikes perhaps you really need to work out what kind of riding you want to do.

The Blackbird is a high speed tourer, the Falco may be called a sports tourer by some (who don't know how else to pigeon hole it) but if the Mille didn't exist the Falco would have been called a sports bike. I had one after my curvy and it was a bit like a grown up SV, I'd happily have one again (I've even thought of it) so happily recommend itm but it won't be as comfortable over lots of miles like the Honda probably is.
