Default Bag o' Spanners..

Rode home this evening, and didn't bother with my ear plugs .... Jee's the SV sounds like a bag of old spanners!!

I'm assuming this is normal, and its me not wearing my plugs that have led to this - but I'm sure my memory of the SV was as a nice smooth quiet bike!!

Put my mind at ease...

Is the SV a bag of spanners? Don't even remember my testing CB500 sounding this rough!!

What other comparable bikes have a smoother/quieter engine?

It is quite a sensory shock to ride without earplugs if you usually do. There is engine noise with an SV, but bag o'spanners, no.

Seconded. When I can start hearing mine over the exhaust, I know the oil needs topping up...

No, loads of oil ....all fluids seem ok - and mpg and performance seem bang on ....think it was just a suprise after weeks using earplugs!!

Sounds fine at higher revs - but town work means low revs, which always seems rough (sounding)

Riding in the 3500 - 4500 revs range generally - is this too low??

Think the chain slider needs lubing too - what's the best stuff to stick on here ??
