Hi all,
I'm about to install my new 0.90kg./mm. fork springs and was wondering if someone here would know which oil should I use... I've done some research and I've found almost everything from those who say 7,5w is the best to others recommending 30w... ![]() Hope somebody can help me a little, Thank you very much! Oh, and, by the way, if someone travels to Santander, Spain by Brittany Ferries and want to go for some twisties to the Picos de Europa... just pm me... my English is awful, but I'd be pleased to show you some of the best roads around! |

I was told 20W+ would be too dense, so instead i have 15W oil which seems to work just fine.

depends how much you weigh, but I used same springs and 10w oil as 15w that i had in earlier made the front end too stiff and less responsive over bumps at speed

By way of explanation, a lot of people recommending the extremes (5-7.5w, and 20w+) are probably running revised fork damping internals such as racetech emulators.
My forks have slightly stiffer springs in (I'd guess ~0.8 / 0.85) and I've found fresh 10w oil to be nice and plush but possibly a little on the squidgy side. 15w oil was a bit firmer but perhaps a little too much on bumpy south London roads. Last time round I mixed a bottle of 10w and 15w for ~12.5w, and I thought it worked quite well. Anything in the 10w-15w bracket will be fine. Different fork oil manufacturer's oils differ in viscosity anyway which makes it a little harder. Stick with one brand if you're going to experiment. My local bike shop stocks PJ1 which seems to be a good match to suzuki's own branded oil. Jambo

You've been very kind and very helpful ![]() It's crystal clear now: 10w for one fork and... 15w for the other one! Just joking! I think I'll do the mixing of 10w and 15w and try the 12.5w. THANK'S!!! |
