Default Lidl - Digital Vernier and Tap & Die Set

Just a heads up - I picked up a digital vernier and a tap and die set from Lidl today. Ther caliper was £7.99 and the tap and die set was £5.99. Obviously not pro-grade stuff, but good for the money and handy to have.

Yep, the vernier gauge is great, I got one the last time it was on offer. I'd got a tap and die set from somewhere else.

Like you say always handy to have

If it's the same vice I bought it will be a chocolate teapot. Mine ended up in the bin

As mentioned they're good for many measurments. The main jaws will give you an outside measurement, the small jaws an inside measurement and the little bit at the bottom can be used for depth (good for setting fork-top height above your triples for example).

Digital ones are handy -not only quick and easy to read, but can be zeroed for easy (math-free) differential measurements.

To be honest, it's more as a spare pair of hands when I'm doing light work such as holding circuit boards etc when soldering or such like. Not heavy stuff.

I bought the Aldi mini-vice a little while back. I think it was £5? Still havent taken it out of the box, but one of those items I'll be glad I have when I need it.

When I moved here I was given a proper old-school made-in-England 6" vice that had been in my wife's gran's garage, so I'm covered there. I actually get lots of use out of that one.
