Default Ends cans should I use sealant?

I've just fitted a set of Carbon Can Co Tri-Oval cans to my SV1000.

I noticed after I tightened the four bolts on each can that I could feel a small amount of exhaust gas leaking from the connection. Took it out for a ride and there is some very slight popping which I guess is this leak.

So, I thought perhaps I should put a touch of exhaust sealant at the joint of each can.

Can anyone give any advice as to whether this is the right thing to do ?

Cheers

Bit of bathroom sealant works fine
