Default If it's windy, DONT COVER YOUR BIKE!!!

Woke up this morning to find my SV on its side . wind was so bad the cover pulled the bike over!! Luckily it fell onto my Girlfriends car (er, I mean unlucky), wing mirror took impact and snapped off, then hit the floor so not much side damage (phew).

Put the cover on but have the bottom sitting around the level of the footpegs so there's room for the wind to get through. Use bungee cords or some rope to tie the cover down so it can't billow out and problem solved.

Why take the risk?----its only rain and for extreme wind any cover acts like a sail due to the increased surface area no matter how it is fitted. Unless my bike was in a very wind protected area I would not use a cover in such extreme conditions. --omo

I use a tie strap and wrap it around the bike/cover , after having the same thing happen to me on New years eve 2007. It's not happened since.

Phil

Yep- had that before. It's gutting, isn't it?

My bike is on the folks' drive- had a really bad night sleep anyway, but kept looking out to check it was still upright! Fortunately it was and is- it's bloody windy in Dorset right now! (nice watching the trees dance in it though)

It happened to our Daytona 1200 too, and that weighs around 60 kilos more than an SV
