So I've been a complete pratt. A few weeks back I came out of the e-world and joined a Madlanders rideout. Since my wife was away that weekend I thought I'd take her SV. It sort of seemed appropriate for my first org rideout. Well, I didn't ask her permission to do this and I didn't tell her either 'cos I knew she would have said no.
Now I've been found out and it's caused all sorts of problems - this secrecy was the latest in a long line of similar incidents that have pushed my marriage right into the danger zone. Also causing problems is the fact that I've also been spending too much time idly browsing this forum This post is public acknowledgement of my stupid behaviour for my wife. To her, I'm really sorry. So I now need to back off and spend more time in the real world to get some balance back in my life. I'm sure no-one will really miss me here that much. I won't be gone completely but my time and involvement here needs to be much reduced from now on. This is my decision. I will still be around and about and able to join future rideouts etc. but I'll be on my own bike! Sadly, my behaviour has tainted my wife's view of the org and she is unlikely to show any interest in joining us. The org doesn't deserve that but I'm to blame for. Anyway, judge me, not my wife. There's really no need for comment. I am saying this to publicly put the record straight because it's the right thing to do and to help put me on a path that will stop making further trouble for those I hold dear. Whatever my rep on here, it's probably better than I deserve. I'm not really a fan of "look at me" threads so it feels a bit hypocritical posting all this, but it needed to be said publicly. I don't need advice on this right now.

Sorry to hear that, Ruffy.
I hope you manage to sort things out, and that your wife possibly gives Org a second chance. It would be nice to see you both out on a rideout sometime.

Personally, I think it's a shame you weren't more involved. Both on the boards and out on meets. Whilst a Viffer is a poor substitute for an SV, especially a Curvy

Wow, kind words in every reply and unusual absence of blatant mickey-taking! Thanks all, you have sensitivity to be proud of.
My wife and kids mean a huge amount to me and I firmly believe that it will be better to keep my family together. The org also means a lot - it has an attraction that is clearly a reflection of the top people on here. Other forums I've been to don't seem to have the same aura. I will show my wife your replies as we work through our problems and hope to soon be back more regularly - just gotta get a better grip on the balance of time I spend online and offline etc. Thanks again, your support means a lot and is helpful. ![]() Andy

ah the joys of real life vs virtual life eh? me and the ex g/f used to have this debate, she;d moan at me and say i was spending far too much time on the computer but i'd simply point out that if i wasn't on here wed only be arguing over what to watch on TV or in separate rooms so we could watch the TV each of us wanted.
Finding a balance is the tough bit, so good luck with that. I am however curious as to why she wouldnt have let you borrow her SV to go to your first Org rideout. Do you have an history of thrashing her bike or even worse, crashing it? If its way too personal an issue feel free to tell me to take a flying leap, juts my curiosity getting the better of me.
