The answer is no I think, because the 1000 has twin pipes, not 2 into 1

Nothing to do with it as the engine layout is the same. But it's because the front pipe goes down the left side instead of the right side underneath the engine. So the cutout on the bellypan is on the wrong side of the front of the bellypan

SV650

SV1000

So it actually depends on the design of the belly pan. As you can see the cut out on the 1000 would not fit the 650. But the 650 could be made to fit both because it doesn't have a cut out.

OP's questions was 'can an SV1K belly pan be modded to fit a SV650' - Yes it can! The cut out on the SV1K can be made to look like that of the SV650 belly pan - no left or right, cut out the exhaust off-set. I actually think that the SV1K belly pan looks way much better than that of the OEM SV650 one. I've modded an SV1K to fit a SV650 myself - not bad really, but lower pipes are visible if brackets are not made to fit properly. HTH.

What a waste of money and time - make your own brackets up! These things wouldn't correctly fit an SV650 belly pan either, they're all the same length.
