EU climate cash pledge 'not enough' say small nations

Having just watched a TV report about this with my family where it was stated that 25% of the EU money for this would be donated by Britain. For once my children and I are in agreement.

Britain should not spend a penny of taxpayer money outside of these shores until such time as poverty in this country has been eliminated.
By that nobody living in unfit housing, No child eligible for free school meals etc. All earning a living wage.

My daughter went a little further and stated we should pay for condoms to stop excessive reproduction beyond what the ecology of an area can sustain.

This country is in sever financial do do. Why the hell are we trying to play the rich man when our pockets are empty?

As a family we have had to cut our costs, I can only imagine the GB and his gang know they will not have to fix their broken economy as they will have been sacked within the next 6 months.

We are all livid about this too - after all charity begins at home and the country is broke!

The EU seems like a disgusting waste of money at the best of times. Climate? Does burning someone elses cash produce less CO2 or something?

Said pretty much the same to Peg earlier. How the bleddy hell do they expect to get the money to give out to other countries when we ain't got a h'penny to rub together in our pockets that seem to have big holes in it.

And on another note, we don't see anyone rushing to our aid when all our old ladies and children are getting swept away in floods.

Meh!

From what the article says, more then likely the UK had already pledged this sort of money long ago, and it is only being stated now as being specifically set aside for this part of the EU budget.

Playing devils advocate here, but climate change is a world wide problem, you cant just shut the doors down and say "itīs not our problem" my gosh we would almost sound like the USA ... infact why dont we adopt that policy after all we seem to take on everything they say as gospel anyway

No but throwing money at 3rd world countries who don't use a whole lot of oil anyway doesn't sound like it's going to help.

Throw the money at building some nuclear power stations or into fusion power research.

Understandable concern however, it is in the poorer nations that have those imense jungles and forests that in order for them to continue to make a living they carry on destroying them. The allocated money also goes towards preventing these things happening, alongside harnessing the natural power of other countries.

By all means research other alternatives, however the technology at the moment that is available such as wave power, wind power etc are actually better utilised in other countries alongside the UK.

Dizzy, generally when natural disasters happen, other countries will be ready to help should that country request it. I donīt believe that any requests for help have every been asked for by the UK and therefore none given... please feel free to correct me if I am mistaken here.

zsv650.. scientifically proven or not, it makes little odds, we are going to at some point in the future use the natural resources that we have currently being using for energy, I think this might be a discussion for another thread though.

Nothing has changed just because a small minority of scientists are bad, same as every other proffesion.
