Default Anyone reading RiDE?

I'm probably being unfair here, but I find the running article about "New Rider" Stacey and "What [she] Did Next" a little annoying!
Almost patronizing....

....And this is where I find she's a member of the .Org, but meh, my opinion voiced!

tbh I find the perspective the articles come from quite different, and refreshing. Most experienced bike journo's are clones writing articles that could be cut and pasted.

She comes across as an inexperienced rider, and to a certain extent, as a journo too. And as a result of both I reckon she hits the spot with inexperienced riders, i.e. someone they can relate to as opposed to a very experienced biker who's telling you he got his knee down followed by a shower of sparks. And is that always wise for a mixed experience readership?

Each to their own though.

Just had a flick through the latest one (Feb 2010?!) and she's not in there - got a new guy in who has just done DAS by the look of things.

Ermm ok, nah refering to Jan 2010 Issue.

Tbh I only feel its annoying as, yes she's an inexperienced rider (like moi), but its obvious she's getting loads of help and advice that your average newbie wouldn't get, and therefore its just a little detached from the reality of learning.

Suppose... it's who you know... not what you know!

And the fact that in this issue she's already looking at getting rid of the SV650!!!

I tend to skip this part of Ride, otherwise it's a pretty good read.

I prefer it to Bike

I have read her section a few times and the last one had me shaking my head from the first sentence. She has only been riding a big bike for a few months, crashed (purely her own fault coming off a wet roundabout too quickly) and now she is considering getting a full on sports 600 (maybe even a GSXR750?!) after a couple of hours additional tuition with a Ride writer/instructor. And throughout her other pieces she has consistently commented on how inexperienced she is and that she is still very much still learning to ride. I don't get it.
And in the same issue 'Rides guide to tools' lists the 5 essential 'tools' every biker should own as
1. Owners manual
2. Tyre pressure guage
3. WD-40
4. Rags
5. Charger
Now, I'm no mechanic (although I have rebuilt my Land Rover and do 90% of my bike jobs) but that list is a pile of poo. I wouldn't class one of those as a 'tool', and certainly not given that the article does actually go through quite a comprehensive list of actual tools.
Come on Ride - Could do better.

Charger? RIDE THE BIKE and you won't need it. WD-40 and rags (presumably for cleaning sht rather than doing anything useful) more important than chain lube and spanners? Get back in the kitchen love, the grown ups are talking.
