to the bike..
fitted- direct to battery.. all works fine.. under pillion.. all wired up nice. but- (and yep I done a serch first.) Should I have put an inline fuse in? the red light is on .. but its not drawing any power off the battery is it until somehting is plugged in. ran it and it charged the phones.. (preperation for scotland trip.. the charger iteslf not charging the phones today in prep !!) but that was with bike off. so - it wont suddenly surge or 'owt will it when bike is turned on and engine running.. and finally.. if when we in scotland and I want to charge me phone up will it be ok without bke running to plug in for half an hour? or will that drain it? me no understand amps and volts and charge rate and stuff. ta the mighty org. |

Definately fit an in-line fuse. If you accidently trap and short circuit the wiring you bike could end up a smouldering mess.

I assume your phone charger is designed for use in a car?, and that it has a plug to fit the cigarette lighter?. Have you cut this plug off and wired the remaining cable to the bike battery?

That's ok then. Just splice/solder the fuse holder into the live feed. Use the lowest rated fuse you can get hold of, if it blows try the next rating up.

You want the fuse as close to the battery as possible within reason to eliminate any possible problems before the fuse.
Fit the rating of fuse the charger says it needs! |
