Hi all, has anyone experience of fitting a GSXR 600 K6 rear shock to the SV650, yes it is 10mm shorter and larger diam spring but has a wide and flexible range of adjustment, I am guessing that most of the change's due to the shorter length can be taken up with either "shorter dog-bones" or adaptors to lengthen the bottom damper mount.
I want to make changes to my K9 sport during the winter including the above, and also RaceTech fork springs. Any advice or suggestions appreciated as I find the standard setup lacking in adjustment for my non standard oriental weight for which I guess it was designed ?? ![]() |

best to use a k3 gsxr 1000 shock its 8mm longer so will make the bike stear in faster and still has a all the adjustments of the 600
you realy dont want to be lowering the back end at all as it will make the already slow stearing of the sv worce, i have 30mm jack up dog bones fited as well as the 8mm rise of the gsxr 1000 shock. i think not sure thogh that the k4+ are shorter and also softer than the k3 so not a verry good option. if you search shock change you should come up with the shock thread with all the info you would need on diff shocks and lenghts and spring rates |

Thanks Barwel1992, links etc, I have been sorting through the links for a while and had come to the conclusion of the K3 1000, but when offered a near new 600 K6 damper for a chucklechuckle price it was irrisistable and gives "I think" a greater range of adjustment and only have to make up 10mm extra length. If I can't adapt/make it fit I still have a good sale-able item.

true there is no big noticable difforence but the sv does benefit in my oppinion from having sharper turn in, and to what DP sead above about people lowing the bike is true but they also lower the forks through the tripple wich ofsets the lowwering of the rear. keeping the stearin speed near enought the same as it was when it was at stock height.
they are not that slow but stil slow campaird to what i have ride befor (mt-03/xt660x) and YC realy does know his SH*T |

Bear in mind the penske shock for SV (best one around), fully ride-height adjustable, STARTS at around 345mm compared to stock (and ohlins) 337mm. You then get +12 mm on that if you wind adjuster out full. We put a K5(IIRC) 1000 shock in paul the 6th's K5 pointy and it worked well. Easy fit too. But I'm no expert on pointies. Most interesting swap at minute is the 'prilla one. Look on thread by davieSV ... I'm sure he would make you a replacement bottom mount for a couple of beer tokens!

That is more likely having a grown-ups spring on the back than the ride height. But it is a massive difference.
