Broken key in filler cap - SV650.org

My SV650S has got the bottom part of my key stuck in it thanks to the recent weather.

I have got a replacement filler cap but how do I remove the old one?

Without blowing myself up that is!

do you have a spare if so try putting it in then attach to a magnet while key is in or drill through where key goes, clean tank well then new fuel, or locksmith i had my disc lock go today they are hell to get off but i done it with hack saw, sorry to hear you bad news good luck

A little wd-40 sprayed in the keyholes from time to time will prevent that.

I had the same thing happen on a previous bike.
A locksmith got it out and made a new key using the 2 pieces in about 30 mins.

If you can't get the key out with needle nose pliers then you should be able to either use a screwdriver to turn the lock or if all else fails use brute force to break it.

well since you still have the other half of the key unlock it and just remove the screws round the top of the cap it then comes off in one unit, replace with new one simples
