Default Crankcase plug/cover on the bottom

On the bottom of the bike near the sump bolt there is a 10p (ish) sized cover with a hex slot for an allen key, what's under this cover? If I were to take it off would all the oil drain out as per the sump bolt or is it for something else.

On the fiche, Crankcase (model X/Y) it's number 21, plug 16*8 ???? (I think).

Basically I have an oil leak down there, it's either going to be that or the two lowest bolts holding the crankcase together or possible the gasket between the two half's of the crank case. I'm still looking but was wondering what that cover/plug was for?

thanks - Si

It is just plug to close hole. Oil is behind it.

You can't drain all oil there so it should not be used as drain plug.

Thanks for all the input - I'll locate the oil leak and tbh hope it's that plug, if it's not then its the gasket. We are only talking a drip every other night but that's enough to do me in on a corner as it goes to the back wheel from there. If I can't fix it directly then I'll have to get clever and add parts to the belly pan to funnel the oil away from the tyres. Maybe to the engine to burn it off on the cover. mmmm

Check your oil filter, maybe that is where oil is coming from. Clean whole bottom of engine and look for oil.

did you leave your brain at home when you posted that? tilt the bike and more drains out, put bolt back in throw a bit of oil in so some more crappy oil gets collected from lower parts remove bolt again, drain, tilt to finish draining and you get near enough all the oil out. which is good enough for me.
