Default School Fundraising Ideas Please?

The school fundraising has been hit in the past year and the PTA have sent out a poorly punctuated letter to this effect.

I am always the first person to slate them, but never do anything to help so this year I am going to try and come up with some ideas before slating them.

So, as I have very little of use ideas wise, do any of you?

Ta Muchly.

Kev

bungee bar running - always a hit with the parents

mum always used to do a big quiz night every year that was one of our biggest fundrasing nights

taster sessions - food (cheese , produce from local area, organic v mass produce healthy eating on a budget baking ask the hom Ec dept for help), activities( belly dancing tai chi, massage, burlesque, pole fit, zumd, latin) - wine/beer (ask a local company to help)

Summer fayres are always a hit but need to be started now to drag all the local companies to pitch in

There are lots of things you could do with little effort.

Get in touch with local companies to see if they would donate anything that you could use and have a main raffle. Tickets are easy to make and print yourself to save cost.

Bag packing at your local supermarket getting the kids involved on a saturday.

Kids getting sponsored to run around the grounds of the school.

Summer fete.

Depending on the age of the kids get them to draw easter pics or get egg shaped drawings to be coloured in and get a local shop (thorntons is always a good shop to approach and can be very helpful) to display the pics in the run up to easter. kids pay 50p and the winner gets chosen by the shop and they present the winner with a prize.

i'll think of other stuff i have done in the past and post here later.

Val is a primary teacher, I'll ask her to tell you what they do for fundraising.

My kids school do really simple things like having tufty days, fancy dress, and pj days. Anyone wanting to come to school out of uniform simply pay a pound. No need for heavy organisation, kids do not miss out on proper learning and they also enjoy wearing different clothing. Last two have been a snowman building competition and a hat wearing day.

a alot of our fundraising was aimed at the parents and not the kids - are you wanting the kids to raise the money or the parents?!?

Yeah true enough, I was thinking something to do with bikes but am guessing that would be a no-no with Heatlh and Safety.

Don't we as a nation pay enough taxes without parents having to contribute?

I am sure Prudence Brown has said he has increased funding to schools?
