Default pc geeks help please re hard drive transfer

got new laptop

took old hard drive out of old one- put in a caddy plugged in usb etc etc
it finds it all.

got me pictures and word files etc.

but my old laptop had microsoft picture it 9 on it..

I can see all the files but will I be able to load it up on to the new one>
or is it just a disc only or download programme. ??


me cant get it to work on me new one via the hard drive of old one.

might be obvious but me is not a computer clever bod.

you will need the original install files Quiff. did your old lappy come bundled with it?

cant recall..

think it came on a disc which having moved 3 times I have lost.

dam
I use that pictur it all the time to crop and edit my pics.

just get something different.

if its just for cropping.. try this, or look on the net there is thousands of programs like picture it for free.

Yes you will be able to. What version of windows does your new computer have on it ?

If you just want basic crop facilities, then MSPaint will do that for you, but its not very nice to use...

If you dont have the install discs you wont be ale to reinstalled Picture 9. But that doesnt matter, you dont specifically need that piece of software to do what you want to do...

Quiff mate, when you install something from a CD the computer copies things from the CD to your hard drive in places you can see and places you can't see

You can't just copy the installed files from one computer to another because you can only copy the files you can see, once they're on the new computer there will be bits missing and it almost certainly won't function correctly


I would recommend you download "Paint.NET" - it's a free photo editing program that does pretty much everything you'll need

hello fizz must give u a bell soon and catch up mate.
i just liked picture it cos i knew how to do it and it worked with my mental OCD head ..

I will write these two donloads down and load them..

me donloaded all 3.

I can clear off this hard drive then yea and use it as a back up for my new laptop. cool.

One more thought. If you decide to go further into photo editing you might like to look up the Gimp (Gnu Image Manipulation Program). It does most of the same things as Photoshop but it's free.
