Default Fitting new exhaust

Sorry if this has been posted before, earler today my street extreme arrived and it says to use a little bit of silicon on the joints, is it necessary to do this? Or would some lock tight be usable?
Cheers
Dan

Not loctite, you can get little tubes of exhaust sealant, but see how it fits first, you probably won't need any

The silicon sealant is to do just that - seal the joins. Locktight comes in tiny, (and expensive!), amounts, and isn't suitable for the task.

That said if you have no suitable sealant and don't wish to buy any, and assuming it's just an end-can you're fitting, then fit it and see if it leaks, the chances are it'll be fine without sealing it.

Ok thanks for the reply. I did wonder if it was worth getting the silicon as any online fitting instructions had not mentioned it.
