Quick Q guys......have searched but can't find the exact answer......
Does anyone know.....roughly......how long a brand new fully charged battery is likely to last when sat parked up with a Datatool alarm fitted? I only ask as there is no power source near the bike (for an Optimate), the alarm needs to stay on; as the bike is parked outside. Plus, I am not going riding on ice just to keep the battery topped up. Just wandered, if it is likely to be a couple of weeks or more? Cheers Drew

I have a Datatool S4 alarm on my GSXR. Over Xmas it lasted about 5-6 weeks although there was still signs of power after that time, albeit not very much.

If you're leaving it for a long enough time that the battery will flatten you should remove the battery and keep it charged
If removing the battery and charging it is too much effort for the length of time you're leaving it the battery probably won't go flat And the circle of life is complete...

In your shoes, I'd buy an Optimate and another battery, keep the 2nd battery indoors on the optimate and then swap the one in the bike over with the spare at regular intervals. Letting the alarm completely drain the battery flat will eventually knacker the battery completely...

Or make up a long extension wire with waterproof connectors, like AMP Superseals
Run it from the bike to insode the house and connect to an Optimate?

Cheers for the advice guys.
TLW - Would mean approx 30 feet of cables, plus up the wall as live in an apartment!!!! In all honesty, I am aiming to have the bike out and about every couple of weeks......so think I should be ok, was curious thats all. However, when it comes to next winter, then I may well look into Fizz's idea. Cheers guys.

![]() Could you not run it our the front door and round the back of the blacktop parking area to the covered bits where I assume you keep the bike?

Am I right in saying that providing that the bike gets a good run out of at least an hour......every two weeks.....it should be fine?

Yeah a couple of months. If it's an S4 though it'll start going to sleep and turning bits and bobs off so I don't think it will have the same protection.

Bear in mind batteries get drained quicker in sub-zero temperatures. I usually remove mine, which is a 5 minute job.
