Hi
My c&s are worn , done 18k miles ( with scottoiler) was hoping for 30 k problem chain is making a right racket front sprocket seems more worn that chain itself , chain is not too bad Can I just replace the very worn front sprocket or do u recon I should just built the bullet & get c&s kit B&C express have 3150.ST.APX Tsubaki x ring chain & steel sprockets for £108 & also 3140.ST.AP Tsubaki o ring chain & steel sprockets for £101 Is it worth paying the extra for the x ring ? Are B&C express a good company ? Any one seen any good buys for c&s kits ? Cheers Steveg

Definatly for the sake of 7 quid get the x ring. Yorkie chris seems to approve of b&c express if I remember correctly but I'm sure he will b on later to back me up!

I was under the impression xring was overkill if you have constant lube on it, however for £7 I'd be tempted.
Heard good things about b&c express, heard mixed reviews about here http://www.stealthproducts.co.uk/

If the chain is part worn and u put new sprockets on it may instantly start to hook the new sprockets... Depends how damaged chain is! For the sake of a few quid for the front sprocket u may as well try! If it was the more expensive rear sprocket I'd mayb avoid it!

Try hunters motorcycles in Newcastle, did me a good deal on c&s for the DRZ. DID chain and sprocks for £72-odd delivered. They don't have a website, but try ringing them on 0191-2618592.

Silly question but have you checked the front sprocket nut is tight?

Good evening all.
B&C are pretty good, I've used them for years. Stealth products are generally inferior to much that's on the market. Some of them are just plain cheap & nasty. I would pay the extra for a Tsubaki SG grade chain. It's actually their premium grade X ring chain, without the gold finish & with O rings instead of X rings. There's a lot of twaddle talked about chains. Many people are under the impression that because a chain is gold & has X rings, it has to be better than a black chain with O rings, but there's a lot more to chains than that. Things like tensile strength, & whether it has forged rollers instead of pressed ones etc. Buy the best you can afford end of. Cheers. Last edited by Spanner Man; 17-02-10 at 12:08 AM. |

I would replace front sprocket first depending on the level of the chain wear. Check carefully for any tight or loose links (fore-aft play). If chain seems ok try it with another front sprocket.
