to lift and support the pointy SV using its crash bungs?
If you were to be removing the front end of the bike and storing the bike like this for quite possibly a while, is it wise to do it by supporting the bike under the crash bungs? or is that like picking a kid up by their ears? Last edited by Owenski; 05-03-10 at 12:00 PM. |

I've done it on other bikes before. The SV has the bungs a little bit high for me to do this with my stands though.
If you want to look at it another way the bolts for the bungs are M10(?), the swingarm bobbins IIRC are M8... Druid

Im going to do the lowering of the pointy, and the fork internals over the next few weeks to hopefully have it all ready for plan'o'man depending on exams etc. but it'll be a case of like an hours work on it here and there so first I'm building a trolly on casters, so I can pull it out and push it back to the side any time. But I was thinking if I build support pillars to cup the swing arm and the crash bungs then it'll be easier to work on.

yeah knew you used the bar couldn't remember if you used ratchet strap or rope. As long as they're solid I would, when doing the front end if you can't get them round the bungs try for the frame. Rearend; subframe's probably your best bet. once it's up I wouldn't mind storing it like that they're not massively heavy (as long as it ain't bending or owt).

No the rear subframe has two exposed struts below the back plastics on a pointy (put something soft over the plastics to protect them) but see if you can get a hold round them.

If you're going to leave it like that for a while, why not leave it on a pair of axle stands? It's what I notmally do.
