Default Anyone else nervous about the pointy's side stand?

For those who don't know, I've just moved to a point k4 and really enjoying riding it, despite the rain.

One thing I am very concious of is, because it's a heavy bike, putting it on the side stand. The side stand seems to be more or less at a right angle to the bike and I'm quite nervous of the bike coming off the stand with the slightest nudge.

I check the stand by kicking it to make sure it's at full extension and also making sure the bike is stable. Being paranoid I'm doing this about 5 times everytime I park the bike up. I presume the advice is to be as safe/wreckless as you want when setting it on the stand as the stand can't be adjusted?

No I never have been.

You think the pointy is bad, you should see the stand on my other halfs 749, it bends and flexes like anything you watch it bend as it takes the weight of the bike, feels flimsy as anything. The SV's is much more substantial by comparison.

if you make sure that the bike is in gear when you park and sit on it then roll it forward to take up slack before putting it on the sidestand then there is nowhere for it to go and cause the stand to fold up

Is the bike standard height? Sometimes they have been lowered a tad and unless the stand is shortened proportionally it can make them a little bit to vertical....

Standard height. It's not so much that the bike's vertical but the stand not coming out far forward enough...

I guess it would only take a few seconds work with a grinder or a file to make it come forward a few degrees more if it would improve your confidence in it.

Compared to the side stand on my VFR the pointy is a model of rigidity.

no problem with mine on my k3 but my bike does lean verry heavy on it because of the raised ride height, but it seemed ok stock

Mines fallen off its stand before, on uneven ground.
Only cost me a new Screen & Mirrors, few scratches. God bless crash bungs.
I am so very careful now, and will only park it facing uphill on a very flat surface.
