Messy, isn't it?

Just had a good friend of mine texting me saying him & his missus have had *another* argument because this time, he's noticed the history on her computer and she's been looking up her ex...

I've got other girl mates who look up their ex's or their partners ex's and wind themselves up about stuff...

My ex used to look up my own ex quite alot and go in a mood for no particular reason..

This isn't aimed squarely at women either 'cos I've got lad mates who are a bit possessive over their girlfriends and have looked up their missus' ex's at times.

There's usually always the mystery of 'the ex' in relationships but facebook seems to throw petrol on the flames of the concept - why do people do stuff like this?

I have been in a similar situation with a previous girl where she idolised her ex (but "they were just friends") for the first few months of the relationship. One day I went to end it but she announced she was annoyed with him and had been making a massive mistake still being friends with him etc. At that time, facebook wasn't around but if it had been, I would *NOT* have been so bothered to look him up..




So can anyone shed any light on this for me please? Why? Why? Why?

I've just advised my friend that she's not cheating and that I know alot of people who do what she's doing without really technically doing anything wrong. Also told him that they should both calm down, leave it a day or two and then have a chat about it etc..

it was facebook that got my last relationship going. very cautious now, i need to know someone first before making a huge mistake again.

normally how you meet them is how you lose them from what i have seen

strangely enough in the case of my mate he's starting to have a bit of a problem with her ex because she's still got lots of relics of her past relationship which my mate keeps finding (rugby shirts, boxer shorts, pics etc)..

With everyone else I know it's always been the female who's had a problem with the fella's ex...

Speaking of which, my mate has just text me saying "reckon me and you should just become lovers..."

My ex ain't even on Facebook! If he was Peg wouldn't give a hoot if ha was in my friend list either.

However mr rock god ex from many moons ago is, and hes on a handful of my mates lists, and theres a bunch of us connected together via FB. Kinda keeps the old days of our bunch in touch. Thats it, I look on his page as its hilarious, not to be some weirdo stalker, occasionally we may comment on each others page, but thats it.

As for the relics bit, well theres bound to be bits n bobs here and there., Still bits of bike belonging to Matt here, and neither of us notice them until we fall over them!
I mean come on when you spend five yrs of your life with someone, are you really going to burn your photo albums because yer new beloved can't handle you having a past?

my ex is a "friend" on fbook but I very rarely speak to him. I have the odd nosy to see where he's got to in life, as I do all my old schoolmates but that's as far as it goes.


What I don't like about facebook is the whole "oh crap I've split with someone, now I have to change my r'ship status and EVERYONE will see it in their news feed!" I always feel sad when I see that "so-and-so is single" or "so-and-so has ended their r'ship". I kinda do want to know so I don't stick my foot in it when I next see them but then I don't want to know cos it's their business and laundry in public and all that. Meh, spose should just do what most people do and don't declare it on there in the first place!
