Default These are the days that must happen to you!

I did a search but couldn’t see any threads on the subject.

You prob all know what it is about so i wont go into too much detail. But has anyone actually done it? Jacked the job in, and disappeared on a bike to tour the world.

It is such a romantic fantasy, to just have no ties and run off exploring new places. But how practical is it?

I ask cus it is something i have always wanted to do, and i am reading the book and feeling inspired

So has anyone done it? or been thinking about it? Or even just some tips or websites to look into it?

Cheers

Rach

See the "Ride Reports" forum on www.advrider.com

As TLW, I don't tend to think of much else at the moment.

All my plans are drawn out, it's just waiting for the day when I have the finances to do it. I like to travel ad-hoc, so I've not really done that much planning to be fair. Just what I NEED to know, ie, where I'm going & what to do if things go badly wrong.

I would love to do it and have thought about it ...maybe one day... I wouldn't like to travel alone though.

Rach, are your thoughts to travel with someone or alone?

I'd LOVE to do it. Would be ok with friends, but something about doing it alone really appeals to me.

Some real me time in the middle of no-where, camp fire, bit o meat, some beans, happy days.

Not quite round the world, but Cape to Cairo.

Still in the very early planning stages, but my friend and I are hoping to do this, possibly in 2011.

Like you say, once the idea is planted in your head, it's like an itch that just has to be scratched.

That reminds me of the advert for the bike shop in Saints Row 2... the guy tells of how one day he just quit his job and bought a big cruiser. Went by his house, flipped off his wife and kids and roared off into the sunset. Years later he hasn't looked back, having had sex with hot biker chicks all across America - and he owes it all to his bike.

I think some parts it would be a good idea to be with someone, being a lone young female on a bike could invite some trouble. But some parts i'd wanna be on my own. Partly to get away from everyone and partly just to see if i could do it.

I just dunno where to start planning it tho. I like the idea of having it all planned so when i have enough cash or am in a position that i can do it, i can just go

Oooooooooooooo the day dreams
