After looking at the rearsets thread and numerouse threads on brakes suspension upgrades cans even tyres, is there a bike/s that comes out of the factory that is built with all the parts that a dedicated biker would want already fitted and all you have to do is ride it instead of changing a load of parts, or are we talking £15,000 plus, ie exotica.

Modern supersports are pretty good, mine has no real mods apart from cosmetic (tail tidy/tinted screen) which would likely be illegal straight from the factory. Everything else is standard and pretty awesome
![]() I just spend money on petrol/tyres/servicing, all other funds are spent riding the thing, track days, alpine tours, Ring visits etc. Much better than wasting my hard earned cash on bits of metal that rapidly lose their value. Last edited by Tim in Belgium; 20-03-10 at 08:36 AM. |

People still need to fiddle with their exotic Ducatis as far as I can tell from the other forum. Some of them come with the wrong shock spring or need the front suspension (Ohlins) sorted.
Of course carbonfibre bling and open clutch cases are always fitted later, but they are not strictly needed. I think bikers, mostly male though, will always feel the need to personalise their ride, either to make it "theirs" or to show how much mullah they have. |

Bimota Tesi 3D. I can't think of anything that I'd even remotely want to do to that. Other than, y'know...
*cough* Don't think I'd touch the DB7, either. Also, RSV4. I think I'd be afraid of breaking the gorgeousness by changing anything. |

None, firstly you have the stuff manufacturers are forced to fit to comply with various rules (thinking about the cat here mainly), and secondly taking a general "fit the average" and making it more compatable to me, and thirdly protection (as in crash bungs).
My S4, has an aux socket, alarm, info rad, heated grips, crash bungs and can fitted, as well as a drop plate on the left footpeg, but apart from that is pretty standard. The Superduke also has about £2.5k worth of "Extras", namely cans, rearsets, crash bungs, indicators, bobbins, screen, alarm & wheel trim. And of course both have supplimented underseat items, like puncture repair kits, emergency cable repair kit, spare levers*, extended tools* as well, but then these things are more prudent than indulgent. Cheers Mark. * where space allows

New bikes are simply a blank canvass waiting for their owner's to make their own marks of distinction.

I can't think of a bike I wouldn't modify.
Maybe a bimota SB6 or 8R. Maybe a Vyrus. Those would have a greater than fair chance of staying standard. Quote:

I think as petevtwin650 has said it's not really a case of needing to change anything more just wanting to.
I would be hard pressed to change anything on on the Duke SF though but I know that bike is a bit like marmite, love it or hate it. |

Thoroughly personal choice, I think most people just can't help it. If I had a classic bike I'd probably try and keep it as standard as, or spend loads of wonga putting it so. My two SVs are opposite end of the scales as far as modification goes.
IF I manage to get my mitts on the Xtra Raptor at the end of this year, its doubtful I would change anything on it, if I managed to find an unmauled one. The only thing likely to be changed would be the cans, as the originals need a tow truck of their own, and look into why the flippin hell they shove a steering damper on it when the less rare uncarboned VRap doesn't. I'd do pretty much what Matthew did with his, just to iron out a few things. Oh yeah, the correct crash bungs too. Them Raptor horns, indie lenses and headlight assemblies are like donkey rocking poo, if they come on eaby they go for an extortionate price...brand new original horns will set you back 400 quid!!! Its marmite, and to me they do alright without modding.
