Default Crash bung fitting and exhaust.

I know these topics are all over the forum but cant seem to get the right answer.I picked up my new sv650s k4 2004 model(full faired).

My question is is that I want to fit crash bungs but with little or no mechanical knowledge would it be better to get a dealer to do or is it pretty easy, dont want to break the bike.
2nd question is what exhaust(for not allot of money) should I fit to get a good noise as I want to be heard in london, should I also get a dealer to do this.Do you have to cut and weld when putting a new exhaust on.

Many thanks guys

Get a beowolf or CCC cheap and good quality and I think CCC will fit for you? crash bungs should have instructions but are not hard to fit.

As long as you can read instructions and physically hold a spanner/socket wrench/allen key, you should be able to do both jobs without needing to visit a dealer. You don't need to jack the bike up or anything for these two jobs, which saves hassle.

As for which exhaust, I like the Beowulf range. http://www.beowulf-performance-products.com/
I've yet to hear a Beowulf exhaust which I didn't like the sound of! Mine seems loud enough even with the baffles in!

To fit a new exahust, if you still have the standard one on you'll need a way to cut the old one off. I used a steel pipe cutter which seemed to do the job fine.

I've recently done both jobs, and I wouldn't class myself as an experienced. Each job took around an hour or so.

virtually any can will do (obviously for the SV), you'll need to cut the current system, but that's well documented on here, so just get the one that suits you.

As to the crash bungs, it's a two bolt job on either side, although the lowers I believe need cutting, but that also has been done many times and is in the search somewhere.

Cheers Mark.

Depends on which bungs you go for. The latest style R&G ones made specifically for the fully faired, with the big bracket, doesn't require any fairing cutting at all.

I had the official Suzuki crash bungs fitted to my bike. Apparently they are not as good as R&Gs in a crash but they couldn't be easier to fit. One screw job.

With regard to the exhaust I just went at it with a cheap hacksaw, remember to cover the frame, pegs and anything else you think you might scratch if the saw slips though.

I had a blue flame exhaust, these are pricey brand new but I got it from a fellow orger second hand. With the baffles out it was very loud

Have a listen here

I am useless mechanically, half the threads in the bike sections of this forum I have no idea what they are talking about but I still managed to fit the bubgs and can with no problems.

id look for a second hand can and get a link pipe from ebay so you can use any can you like, with that link pipe and appropriate strap for the can
