Basically i've been with the same company for about 6 years and the service has been good, but its causing me issues to insure two bikes.
I'm getting good quotes from the above two companies, but have no experience with either. Has anyone been insured/had to claim with these companies, what was your experience like (I.E I know getting claims from some companies can be a nightmare, bad customer service etc). The one and only good reason for getting old, cheaper bike quotes ![]() Taaaaa |

MCE refused to play ball and price match on renwal. But unlike many I formally cancelled at the end of my term. That way I did not get them auto renewing and charging for what I had never asked for and getting heavy about payment.
They have a terrible reputation for handling claims, found out after I took out the policy, but never needed to put it to the test. I think they come up cheap for new business and try to make it difficult for you to leave despite hiking up prices at renewal

Cia are very good, ive had a claim with them and it was settled as fast as was possible. Plus theyre legal cover is top notch, in my experiances anyway.
Oh yeah, and CIA are the "official" suzuki insurers, and are more than happy to match and beat any quote on a suzuki atleast. Last edited by ChrisSV; 28-04-10 at 11:57 AM. |

Ace cheers Tim. MCE are coming out the more expensive of the 2, but CIS I have to add on the extras which will probably work out very similar to MCE's quote.
My previous company (Hastings) saved me ooooo 60p on Nelli and increased my premium on the bandit by £40 (was only £140 last year) so time to change companies. |

Daimo, you might hear from Stretchie when he's back from his lunch. MCE caused him A LOT of problems when he had to claim and not just in being difficult.
They told him he was covered to ride other bikes 3rd party.......the documents came through to say he could not. They told him he was covered to carry a pillion rider.....the documents came through to say he could not. They put down that he had had no previous claims, when in fact, he had claimed the previous year.....WITH THEM! This is just a taster, but the first two show how dangerous their ineptitude is. Dan could have been riding illegally because of their mistakes. If he'd taken me out, thinking he was covered and we'd had an off.....we'd both have been fubarred! I'd steer clear, but only because I have heard far more horror stories than positive stories about them. As for CIA.....I've had no dealings with them. |

MCE are ok if you are vigilant about checking the documentation that they send back. It took them 3 attempts to get it right this time around but I'm happy.
Regarding a claim I had with them last year, they did need a bit of prodding now and again but I was happy with the overall outcome so I used them again this year. You get what you pay for and I wanted cheap insurance so I'm prepared for them to be a bit cr@p in certain areas. |

Used MCE would never go back...utterly useless and started making things up.
With CIA now and their even helping me out with my accident that has nothing to do with them, so a good bunch. Also a bloody sight cheaper than most insurers. |

With MCE, Be vigilant when checking documentation. Make sure you ask for everything you want. Be vigilant when checking documentation. Assume there's a mistake somewhere basically. I'd also ask not to be on auto renewal.

I was with CIA for my bandit last year. Cant fault them. Even when they sent the renewal they were £40 more and said that they couldnt match it. No hard sell getting me to stay with them. Just sory they couldnt do any thing for me. Sent my no claims form to me stright away. Very good company shame they were more expensive or I'd have stayed with them.
Are MCE part of the Bennetts group? If so avoid like the fecking plague. They solicitors are a pile of ****e. 18 months so far and they have still not got this sorted out. They are usless bunch of tossers. If you have an accident then go to RSS they ONLY deal with motorcycle accidents and focus on you. |
