Over the last couple of days i have noticed a "clunk" noise when i have hit a larger lump in the road.
Bike has covered 11500 miles. Wondered wether anyone has had to tighten headstock at this sort of mileage ?? If so is it easy to do it yourself without damageing bearings or is a quick bike shop job ? Any thoughts welcome as not overly worried.... |

Good morning.
As the Japanese motorcycle industry have only 1 tin of grease per year (which they share) ![]() Steering bearings can be past it, even at that mileage. Cheers. |

i notice from your photo you have lower fairing, check your front mud guard at the back near the engine see if the fairing bracket is hitting the mud guard

I have the same 'clunk' on my K3. I have had the bike off the ground to check for play in the headstock but found none. I read somewhere that it may be the fork bushes inside the Forks. I have not looked into this yet though.

The forks can also make this noise.

> do you get the nosie when you brake as well as this could be forks or headstock or only when you hit a bump

Try searching for this, there are loads of threads on this issue, even 5 years ago when I had my first SV.
I'm sure YC can ellaborate more on what causes the "fork clonk". When I complained to Suzuki about this on my K5S, they changed the fork oil, for a "modified" fork oil, it kind of cured the problem, but it would still rear it's ugly head over a fierce-ish bump/hole in the road. |

isnt the fork noise something to do with the damper rods and the oil ?
