Default Fitting starter motor - something in the way?

hi everybody,
got a second hand engine 4 my 2000 curvy yesterday supposedly ok but just come to fit the starter motor and cog as the cover off the side had been removed and it wont go on its looks like theres something in the way. i've checked on the web and it looks like part of the cam chain tensioner is in the way does it mean this engine is f**ked as well or is it an easy fix, any help would be greatly recieved, will post pix when i get chance.

hard to tell from the picture mate. if you think the tensioner guide blade is displaced maybe you could check it at the top by taking the cam cover off.
