As per title please, done a search and it seems that either it's the cargol turn and go about £30 complete kit, or the string stuff called cargo plugger £20 but you then have to buy some air cartridges correct? or is there some thing else out nowadays?

Never had a puncture so haven't tried any. But I always have this under my seat.

I searched around a lot a few years ago on this. Best info came from some BM owners forums in the US where there seemed to be a lot of real world experience of using the kits in anger, not just in theory.
They all recommended the "gorilla-snot" type string plugs like in the Busters link. They said that while in principle the rubber plug type ought to give a better fix, in real life the string ones are by far the easiest to actually use and get a usable repair. Just what I read. I have used some Continental sealant as suplied by "Smart" dealers (they don't have spare wheels), it fixed a thin nail hole in a rear bike tyre for a thousand miles or so, it then started losing pressure slowly again but was due a change at that stage. No roadside fix is intended to be permanent. I bought the cheapest 12V compressor I could find and took the workings out of it, connected a ciggy lighter lead, and carry it when touring. The business bit is reasonably small and at least you know you can repeatedly pump the tyre up if necessary, it can take 3 of the small CO2 bottles to fully inflate a rear tyre but they are fine for everyday backup. Depends how far from civilisation you tend to go. ![]()
