Default Fairing Fix Up

Hey guys!

On New Year's Day I had like a 4mph slip and drop on the ice on my Fazer 600 and cracked the fairing.
Was just wondering if any of you's know of a method of getting it fixed up and how much it would cost roughly??

Here's the damage:

you can do it yourself quite easily with a fibreglass repair kit and some body filler. the problem is painting over the repair, but if you can get hold of the right paint you should be able to do a decent DIY job. otherwise you could find somewhere that does plastic welding, but I dont know how much that costs and what the effect would be on the paintwork.

If you do go down the DIY route. Before doing the plastic padding, get some apoxy resin and apply it with a pin patiently(this gives you the right amount rather than a thick mess) then hold the two sides together until bonded, being careful you don't get it coming out on the painted side.
This will give you a good start, and hopefully a nice smooth bond for your repair kit, rather than trying to pad it to something flapping about.
I did this recently with one of my fairings, but it was a good clean crack. I was so impressed I haven't got round to plastic padding it yet!

I've done both plastic welding (as per http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iv_SpbqyQvI to give you an idea) and also fibre glass on the inside and a sweep over smooth over bodyfiller on the outside. If you prep well and take your time then you can get a good result but like mjc said painting it might look slightly out.
If I was you I'd take the fairing off choose your weapon of choice, repair the crack and respray the whole thing your self.
Or if it's an expensive bike/you want to/you **** up the spraying take it to a pro to spray - I imagine it'd be somewhere between £50-£100 for the whole fairing.

looks like could be a nice fibreglass DIY repair kit jobbie right there, the hardest bit would be gettin the colour right as it always fades a bit with age so gettin a match would be a biatch!

ya could always paint some black go faster stripes to hide the repair or spray the whole nose-fairing fingy if thas the case

about 100 notes for a bikini fairing respray. Most spray shows will do the welding aswell if u chicken it

Not a lot of point getting fancy respray, just plastic weld the back up to stop it flapping about.
