Default Well im the luckiest man alive atm

Just been to our local bike meet at the waterman in warwick, anyway following 3 others on way back, i noticed a bike with panniers in a layby as we passed a little above the speed limit.
Seemed suspicious, but he didnt move so ignored him, anyway 1 of our lot turns off at next island i go right the way i always go, noticed a bike in my nearside mirror close but couldnt really make it properly but he is quite close, actually closer than i would like, so as i exit the island i open it up a bit, cos im running in the trumpet i am restricted to 6k revs, so i go and this bike doesnt keep up so settle at about 70-80mph (50 limit), its abit of a flat straight with no houses, turns or anything and its a road i know very well, i always slow down when its gets to houses and the pub (even these are only on one side and spaced out quite a bit), anyway..
Bike at the front of our 3 bike pack (not mentioning any names btw) brakes quite hard then i notice as he has the unmarked in a recess on opposite side with laser speed gun pointing our way so couldnt get our plates i presume without turning camera by which time we were doing the speed limit.
Anyway, as we pass, probably 100 yards passed the unmarked this bike comes from no where and is on my left but slightly behind me, his blues come on, i think sh*t, he's got me, he pulls along side and gestures to pull over.
I pull over, he pulls in front, but its a 50mph single track road with no verge so we are sitting ducks really, turn my engine off, so does he, walks over and says he clocked me at 86mph off the island (it was him behind me) and followed us earlier but i protest i wasnt doing that speed before the island and he agrees.
Anyway, says its dangerous here follow him to next layby, i start my bike, he goes to start his and it wouldnt fire, im having a chuckle cos i can see his stand down and think its that, he puts the stand up after a couple of mins and it still wont fire, he trys again for another 2 mins or so and then gives up, gets off, walks over to me and says its your lucky night tonight mate my piece of sh*t bike wont start, keep your speed down and on your way (he did say though i WAS getting a ticket until his bike packed up and mentioned bans at that speed ).
I feel very lucky atm and will be watching my speed more in future, easy pickings along that stretch cos its not dangerous there, far from it, but hey ho.
Anyway, while im stopped a lorry goes to overtake me and copper but car coming other way so he changes his mind, a bike behind the truck couldnt have been paying attention and locks up his rear wheel, loads of tyre smoke and goes down inside of lorry , im seeing this in my left mirror and wave this bloke to slow down as its a copper 5ft in front of me.
Just heard 1 of our lot who left us at the island has been pulled and done for overtaking on solid whites, he wasnt so lucky .
Anyway, thought id share and im not gloating or anything cos i do really feel lucky right now.

You sir are a jammy git.

I haven't been to the Waterman yet this year, don't think I will now.

On the plus side the rest of Warwickshire should be fun to ride around on a Wednesday night.

Hey....my first week riding, following Stretchie hme and with SH behind......we were doing more than you on an empty 60......one road, nothing on it, midnight and a ring road, soo no junctions/turnings/houses/etc.

Got pulled by an unmarked car....at least SH was in three figures and I wasn't far off, so Dan must have been the same (SH had been stuck behind a car and was catching up).

The guy was a total dude but a different time of day/stretch of road and we'd all be banned.....a BIG lesson to learn in your first month of a license!

Oh hell yeah. Don't get me wrong.....I do like progress, but not going to risk losing the license when I love riding so much.

My eldest daughter lives in a village called Barford just the other side of the M40 from Warwick and says the police around there are really heavy on bikes at the moment. She does all her fast riding in other counties because she says there's hardly a 60mph single carriageway road left in Warwickshire to play on, all of them have been downgraded to 50 limits.

Well ill put my experience up here, I was at the same bike meet as Phil and was the guy who peeled off at the roundabout. I was being followed by an unmarked Focus ST who followed me through the 50 and into the nearest town which was a 40. I ended up getting a ticket for overtaking on solid whites and a caution for speed. They were out in force today, making up numbers I think. The speed caution was for doing high 60s low 70s in the 50 zone. The copper made it clear he could have given me a court summons and mentioned my plate.
