Just wondered if anyone on here knew of any, she is looking for border collie or a spaniel? Just thought I would post up to see if anyone knew of any. Jo. |

Don't take it the wrong way, but how old is your mum? How active is she? How active will she be in 10-15 years? Has she owned dogs, especially working dogs, before?
Collies are amazing dogs but they need a huge amount of exercise and stimulation, if she really wants one and can cope with it I'd implore her to get a rescue dog, there's thousands of collies whose owners simply couldn't cope with the inherent traits of the breed. Buying a puppy when there are so many young dogs who need homes is crazy IMO, I'll never get anything but a rescue collie again after our current muttley...

I am going to have a look at a litter of puppies in the morning (border collies)
I do hear what you are saying guy's but my mum knows what she is letting herself in for with a border collie as this one will be her 5th one!! and she is quite aware of how "agile" LOL they can be I have looked at the lcal rspca and the dogs trust but no puppies! She has always had 3 dogs and has lost 2 to old age in the last 12 months and now only has a border collie that is not used to being on his own and is becoming very quiet and sleeping all the time, he will take better to a puppy in our opinion as he loves them rather than bringing in a full grown dog onto his territory (yes we did try that too). We have given it a lot of thought and he has had loads more attention since the last dog died but like i say he has just been sleeping all the time and for a border collie aged 31/2 years to be so quiet isn't in their nature LOL Jo. |

![]() ![]() Here he is I wasn't sure how to put one of our pics on so I pinched this one from the site where he was bought from Picked him up last Sunday and he has settled right in as if he has been there for years, Bobby my mum's other Border Collie has taken to him really well and has bucked up no end. He isn't sleeping during the day now and is playing with him. Everything has turned out great and they are the best of buddies ![]() ![]() My mum couldn't think of a name for him and after two days I said to her well what have you been calling him then and she said "just cheeky boy" LOL so hence we have called him "Cheeky" LOL Last edited by mrs fud; 13-06-10 at 08:00 AM. |
