Just checked my old girl[955i] on 42,000 miles it has taken 220cc for a 2380 mile trip with mixed riding i.e Fast motorway, touring with a few mad bits.
How does that compare? |

Depends on the bike. My '94 ZZR600 uses no oil at all between 4000miles changes, and it's got 42k on the clock. That consumption doesn't sound too bad to me though.

After 56,000 miles my ZX6R has needed topping up about twice ever between service windows.
The SV burns a bit, though I'm not sure how many miles are on the motor. Jambo

Pretty similar to my 10 year old R1 (22000 miles) which has started to burn a bit, but I find it changes with the brand of oil that I use. With Castrol GPS it burned more, with Rock Oil Guardian it burns much less given both are 10w40. My oil level sensor has packed up though so I check it pretty much every day now.
The 1994 Ducati M900 I had though burned approx 500ml every 1000 miles, along with a mahoosvie hole in my pocket. |

Try running different brands/specs. My 955i uses less 50w than 40w, and prefers semi to fully.

I may do that at the next oil change as I have always used fully syn in the past.
Are you saying 50-20 semi syn as against 40-10 fully syn? just to be sure what you mean |

I use 10w-50 semi (Hein Gericke's) I just find it uses less oil that way. Even different brands seem to make quite a difference. |

Up to approx 90,000 my Kawasaki never used any whatever the use I put it to, since then lengthy high speed use, (ie more than a ton for a couple of hundred miles*), it will use a bit ~ roughly a 100cc or so. A track-day will use between 100-200cc. Under normal use it will require ~100cc about every 1500-2000 miles.
*Abroad - where legal.
