Unhappy Local authority biker killers.

Here we are looking at the best week of the year thus far for bikes with the weekend set to see loads of unsuspecting bikers hitting the roads and telford and wrekin and south staffs have decided to resurface some of the most popular bike routes with chippings!!!

Is this just my local authorities trying to push up accidents and p**s off bikers or isthis a national conspiracy?

Destroyed routs in my area include: crudgington to newport, shifnal to the a41 wolverhampton, top section of the a41 by j3 of the m54.

Please post your thoughts and any roads around the uk to avoid this weekend.

Not just you.
One of my favourite roads has had it all laid down with chippings, and on a corner that is a notorious bike accident spot...but all they've done is put one slow down sign....fools

yep, spray tarring is one of my rants, cheap and nasty repair option. It's not just the danger of riding on a lose surface, it's also the damage that the damn stones do. Got a nice stone chip in my one month old Shoei due to this.

4 major roads have been done in the last week in my area, not nice when you are gunning it round an island and are met with loose gravel, they obviously dont give a sh*t about bikes at all.

Like John said, cheap way to surface the road, wouldnt mind but the roads they done here wasnt bad tbh, i could think of others in more need.

I've come across a few roads that have have had this treatment around the Windsor area, but they're not "biking classics"!

However, the last time I rode from Basingstoke to Alton (summer '09) it had been done too.

Yep, went out to observe an trainee observer with the IAM last sat, chose the telford to crudgington road for a spirited ride, at 20 mph !!!!. Thet were doing the road in sections so it was a case of quick slow, quick quick slow. What a pain. Also in hot weather the tar doesn't set so you get two distinct ruts. Cheap it may be but safe and long lasting it certainly aint. I just hope it's all done and set for a week on sat for our next observer/associate ride at Wylies.

Daryl.

Loads of road done here too. I hate that pish. It's a crap surface and lasts no time at all. And when it does flake off it leaves lots of small holes, usually on corners. If they just did it properly in the first place it would last ten time longer!!

Councils are doing the same down here in South Wales and it has happened up in Yorkshire. I was up there last weekend and my friend who was with me kept getting many a "wiggle" on while riding his FJ1300 along these "death roads."

I now just go in the tyre tracks of the cages as I know those bits don't have any gravel in, but, had a rear wheel spin as I over took some old guy doing 20mph in a 60mph... Luckily, new underwear not needed...

I don't know, the youngsters of today....
What's wrong with a little variation in our road surface, helps keep the concentration levels up!
